Club Chairs Update March 2023

WHAT A GREAT 3 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD FUND RAISING AND APPLYING FOR GRANTS!

December brought us the first snow of the season and with it some cancellations. By that time the lounge bar improvements were under way and after one or two hitches are coming to fruition. TRO £5000

Some of the new floodlights are in place and as soon as the ground is firm enough, the rest will be finished adding an extra dimension to our training and even the possibility of floodlight matches. ITRO £25000

We have had contributions to both these projects. Thanks to all who donated money, time, materials or expertise to these projects.

There have been great fundraisers ! The Christmas Club raffle ITRO £1200, Christmas League Lunch Raffle INRO £200, The Annual Christmas Charity game supporting bowel cancer ITRO £1200, Socials, (Raising money for tours and other essential items) a number of hires some regular), steady bar take at league games and Sunday mini junior sales have kept our finances on in healthy state. We have however numerous maintenance and new projects to consider and carry out in future. Thanks to all who have worked hard on any of these areas, your support is very much appreciated.

Members of the club have applied for a number of grants. Dean David and Sam Gentleman have been successful in getting 2 grants 1 for toilet improvements (essential toiletry materials and equipment) and 1 for toilet facility improvements, total to the tune of £5500. Many Thanks to both for their hard work.

I met RFU representatives down at the club to assess our pitches problem with drainage and undulations. Their report will be out in the next 2 weeks and we could be in line for a substantial grant covering the all 3 pitches, which if successful will give us finances, annually reducing over the next 10 years, of between £1-£4000 the first year. Herts RFU are also inviting applications for pitch improvement We are awaiting the application form. ITRO £2000

A number of members have contributed greatly to our funds in recent years. A number contribute annually with often 4 figure sums. Anyone who has connections with companies who are willing to donate or sponsor us in any way in please let any of the three chairs know. By my next newsletter I hope to be able to put forward a list of potential projects we need finance for.

Thanks again to all who have worked so hard to support the club in anyway in the day to day running and improvement of our club.

Kind Regards Ian’Shanks’ Graham, Club Chair
