“MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK”

The close season has proved to be some of the busiest summer months I can remember at the club.

The RWC 25 Social Project is being completed at pace, and we hope that the work will be completed by mid-September.  For those that have not been down to the club recently you will notice a big difference to both the clubhouse and our playing area when you visit next.

A huge thank you must go out to Lindsay Digweed who has led the project tirelessly, supported by a team of dedicated family, friends and club members.

Linsay’s father, Gary, and his company, did the majority of the work to the clubhouse, rebuilding the clubhouse windows, preparing for the installation of the new shutters, and preparing the entrance hall for the installation of the new internal plate glass club entrance. Her sister Jodi created the artwork on the outside of the lounge bar shutters.

The other volunteers, who formed the RWC 25 Social Project Team were Paul Mcgoohan, Nora Gilbert, Juliette Warren, Dean David and myself, several of whom have made big personal contributions to the project. The new LED lights and radiators were provided by Dean and we hope that this will go some way to help the club be more energy efficient as we look to upgrade our power supply in the near future.

The new radiators, under the mural, and new windows were installed by Ciaran Hennessy, and Matt Keohane has done all the electric work, which will include installing some outside security cameras to give us 24 hour surveillance of the site.  Both have gone over and above to get the work completed, through the summer, often working until quite late into the evening.

For these I am awarding them Volunteer of the Month for July and August.

Ross Graham has totally transformed the back of the bar with new shelving, louvre doors to the hatch, and a new setting for the coffee machine which will be supervised by Juliette Warren.

On the pitch, pre-season training has taken place through the summer and the new season has seen practice games for the seniors, with good turn outs at all pre-season sessions.

Mini and Junior registration went well last Sunday, and we have a very full fixture list at all levels. Support will continue to be needed from mini and junior parent/carers for weekly duties, which Juliette Warren is organising, and we thank all of those who help with those duties.

Last of all, the club is looking for a paid weekly cleaner (potentially up to two days a week in some weeks). I would be happy to discuss the requirements with any interested parties.

Please contact me on Ian.graham1944@sky .com if interested.

Great start to the 24/25 season. It amazing to see the club buzzing with excitement!

Regards,
